Located at 2517 Ralph Street just northeast of Westheimer at Dunlavy, La Grange is a casual patio bar with craft beer, craft cocktails and coastal Mexican food in the heart of Montrose.
La Grange is owned by developer Harres Exezidis and Sara and Rob Cromie of Cottonwood and Liberty Station. The Cromies also own The Raven Grill and Picnic. Jake Rainey joined the team in 2014 and is the COO of Liberty Station, Cottonwood and La Grange.
The menu was developed and is overseen by head chef Daniel Ajtai of Cottonwood. With an emphasis on coastal Mexican favorites, the menu offers lighter items – ceviche, smoked tomato campechana, salmon aguachile and barbecued oysters – and entrees such as whole fried tilapia, fajitas and stacked enchiladas.
As for the cocktails, fresh juices are squeezed daily and incorporated into the highly popular Watermelon Fresca and the Carlos Danger with fresh-squeezed pineapple juice as well as jalapeño-infused tequila and margaritas.
La Grange is located in a former horse hospital built in the ‘30’s which later became EJ’s, a popular Montrose bar open from the ‘70’s until 2014. It was redesigned and decorated by Julie Watkins Baker who focused on keeping the original structure (and pond!) while incorporating a coastal feel. There are three distinct bars: one inside, one outside and a terrace bar.
As with their other locations, La Grange attracts anyone looking for fresh, delicious food, cocktails and beer in a casual, relaxed atmosphere.
